I'll start...

Post by sp3ctre » Mon Mar 07, 2016 9:17 pm

Hi guys (hello.. hello... echo..echo!)

Obviously not many folks on here yet but thought I would start off the introductions.

I'm Jim, and I run the Z4-forum(.com) forum. It's been going since 2007 and now has well over a Million posts and >17,000 members. This forum has a little way to go to match that, but hopefully with a little bit of effort we can get things moving.

I work as a Technical Consultant for a Credit Bureau and love taking photos in my spare time :D

I'll get in now to get post count up before Bing gets here.
I'm er......Carol.....and I'm a long time member of the z4 forum. If this forum is as good as that one then it's credit to Jim and the rest of the mods.
I don't have a zed but I owned a Z3 and also a E89 Z4 for a while and now have an M3.
I work part time in a school and also earn a bit as a wire sculptor. I also love taking photos!

Hi, I'm Sarah, so as I write this girls outnumber boys 2:1, yikes :D

I'm an Engineer (Mechanical), working in design and development for an Engineering company. What else is there to say, obviously I'm a closet petrol head as I drive a diesel, love technology and gadgets, addicted to coffee and love a pint of real ale

Yeah, looking forward to him being here but this whole pregnancy thing is no fun, lol!

Guess I need to look for the ISOFix base for the car seat :)

Will upload some photos asap... Will be a good test of the image upload feature :)

Cheers Grumpyowl, as much as anything it's a good area to test new mods and features, the best of which we will bring over to Z4-forum

Welcome!

Morning All... Bit of a topic (well, forum) bump after a few months! :)

I'm Owen, from Surrey & getting pretty excited about the 'Z5' shots out there at the moment!

Previously had a 2006 E86 2.0i SE then a 2010 E89 23i M Sport so I have decent heritage!

Currently driving a 2014 428i M Sport Coupe which I love, but can see myself fitting right back into a new generation of Z in a few years!

I question the Z5 name though; BMW's current naming structure uses odd numbers for more mainstream models,e.g. 3-series, 5-series, X3, X5 etc., and even numbers for the 'sporty' more niche models, e.g. 4-series, 6-series, X4, X6 etc. (2-series Active Tourer notwithstanding, why didn't they call it 1?!) Renaming this model Z5 would seem to go against this?

What do people think?

Hi Owen,

Welcome to the forum... :D

Not sure about the naming convention to be honest, maybe others can comment on that. There is a possibility they could use a different badge by release time, the rumours were all about the Z2 for so long before swapping to the Z5. Perhaps the 6 was a bit too much of a jump and maybe they wanted to distance themselves from such bulky barges. Hopefully they don't go the Apple route and call it the "Z4 Plus"
